Collection: KIMONOS
Time to celebrate a 1000 year old art form - the Kimono. Once only worn only by societal elite evoking both stature and elegance and considered the national dress of Japan, the kimono now inspires modern day designers to take cues from it’s traditional style and shape in their collections. “Kimono” originally means “something to wear” but is so much more as they are highly regarded as an iconic symbol of Japan fashion.
That being said, families take pride in carrying the tradition of the art of making a kimono and continue to use traditional materials, hand sewn and some come with long basting “shitsuke ito” stitches along the outside edges. This helps prevent the fabric from bunching, folding or wrinkling. The kimono is also considered a family heirloom - a treasure that is passed down to future generations.
Our founder took a lot of pride in searching high and low to return to the roots of the art form and curate a selection that stays true to traditions. Originating from a small tatami family room in Kyoto, Japan, each kimono is one of a kind with carefully curated patterns and materials that both celebrates the craftsmanship as well as ensure it compliments your everyday wardrobe.
A collector’s item no doubt!
